yoga, never too early to start ;)

yoga, nooit te vroeg om te starten ;) - Full of yoga

From what age can the yoga cards be used?

This is a question I get very often ;)

At Full of Yoga, we believe it's never too early to start yoga. You don't have to stand on one leg to do yoga. Yoga is much more than just holding poses.

Yoga is feeling. Yoga is breathing. Yoga is moving together. Yoga is a way to explore your body.

This means yoga immediately connects with the world of young children.

The discovery of the body begins very early. Every day, children learn something new about their bodies. Just think of how babies, for example, try to put their feet in their mouths. They are already doing yoga in a very natural way.

Young children often even adopt poses that we adults can only dream of!

So get your cards out very early to explore the body with your child in an unforced way.

Ultimately, yoga with your child is mainly about being together. Moving and enjoying together. Feel free to bring your baby and toddler to the mat for a moment of connection.

Here are some tips to get started with young children:

- Your baby wants nothing more than to be close to you, to feel your love and touch. Feel free to keep your baby close while you do yoga. You can place the mat next to the crib or do standing poses with your baby in a baby carrier.

- Let your baby crawl around on your mat and playfully and lovingly connect during the yoga session. A little kiss in between, a tickle here and there when you change poses.

- Take your baby on your lap when doing seated poses or place your baby on your stomach to breathe together in a relaxed way. Connect with your child in a relaxed way during the yoga moment and enjoy each other!

- Toddlers are very active and love to imitate. Sit on the floor together, get the cards and explore. Play! Don't expect a two-year-old to perform the poses perfectly. Don't even expect a toddler to sit still and attentively participate in yoga.

- Try a pose yourself, enjoy the moment and don't take it too seriously. Your toddler will see that you enjoy certain poses or that you radiate calm during a breathing exercise. Know that they pick up a lot subconsciously, even if it may not seem that way. Often your toddler will then come and cuddle when you are relaxing in savasana.

- Preschoolers have a rich imagination. Use that imagination to flutter from flower to flower together in butterfly pose.
Go on an imaginary walk in downward-facing dog.
Guess which pose is depicted from which card.
Make a forest together by standing hand-in-hand in tree pose.
conjure up rainbows with your breath.
Tell a yoga story with the cards.
Anything is possible! As long as you have fun together.

Yoga is for everyone and yoga can be done at any age. Explore together with the cards and feel the connection with your child.
